Many women around the world face obstacles simply because they are a women. Since the enactment of the Equal Pay Act of 1963, it has been illegal for employers to discriminate based on sex. However, today women still earn less than men and that is due to choosing lower paying career fields, leaving the workforce to take care of children or parents, challenges with childcare and the more obvious reason, discrimination. U.S Representative of Arizona’s Second District in Congress, Martha McSally is starting a working group, along with fellow Republican colleagues that will take a look at all the causes for the challenges women face in the workforce.
